This is an original 19th-century Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock triptych titled "The Night Attack of the 47 Ronin" (誠忠義士境木営図) by the Edo-period master Visual Narrative: The print illustrates the dramatic midnight raid on the villa of Moronao, the climax of the historic Chūshingura saga, into three distinct sectors. Left: royal Ronin marching forward wearing their iconic black-and-white zigzag patterned haori coats. Center: a dramatic the apex where samurai discover and drag the corrupt lord out of hiding. Right: Rearguard warriors clashing with palace defenders.Frame: 35" x 19 1/2", sight: 29" x 14". Good condition.
