Baskin is known for his sculpture and graphic arts, especially monumental woodcuts. He was committed to figurative art in a time when the art world focused on abstract expressionism. His work emphasized portraiture and the human condition, often malformed, exaggerated, and animal-like. Etching signed l.l. "Baskin" and numbered l.l. "3/200". Also signed and numbered in plate l.l. "Baskin 1970". This is the third impression out of 200 from a full edition of 550 from the Gehenna Press Edition of Titus Andronicus by William Shakespeare. (Fern & O'Sullivan 595). Frame: 17" x 22 1/2"; plate: 7 1/2" x 12 3/4". Good condition.
