Pair of prints illustrating pears. Stipple engravings by Bouquet after works by Poiteau. Provenance: Haley & Steele. Each work framed with French mats. Poiteau was a French botanical artist, horticulturist and botanist. Although born into a very poor family, through his skill and drive he became hugely successful, traveling all over the world. When he returned to France he enjoyed appointments at both Versaille and Fontainebleau. Frame: 19" x 23"; sight: 10" x 13 1/2". Good condition.
