Maxim Fomenko (Russian but lives and works in Germany, born 1981) uses the old-master technique of "layer painting" where he fixes acrylic paints in bright primary tones on the canvas, before creating his surreal figures using a wide flowing brush stroke with oil paint. His paintings, often interpretations of the masterpieces of his idols, Picasso, Titian or Rembrandt, and increasingly work that was created from perfect craftsmanship and a great deal of humor. Some of Maxim Fomenko's works are already found in significant public collections, such as the Bavarian State Painting Collection in Munich, as well as in well-known private art collections throughout Germany and the USA. Signed and dated on reverse. Unframed. Canvas: 22" x 24.5" Good condition.
