Attributed Italian School, circa 1570. Design for a frieze, pen and brown ink, watercolor, on two sheets of paper. Frame: 16" x 21"; sight 7" x 6". Sold at Christie's Paris on September 19, 2011. Fair condition. The work appears to have been cut vertically at the center and rejoined with some apparent loss to the composition. Also, the griffin at left of center has been cut from the drawing. Appears to have repaired tears along the left and right edges. Wear to the surface. Loss to gilt on frame.
