Pablo Picasso, 1881-1973, Chouette aux taches (A.R. 120), Spotted Owl Madoura Vase
We are honored to offer the clever, the humorous, embodying both the owl and the vase forms at the same time, Chouette aux taches (A.R. 120). This Spotted Owl Madoura vase was conceived in 1951 and executed in an edition of 300. White earthenware ceramic vase with colored englobe and glaze. Stamped and marked ‘D’Après Picasso/Madoura Plein Feu/Edition Picasso’ under foot. Measurements: 8 3/4L X 11 3/4H. Good condition, minor inconsistencies in glaze. Pablo Picasso is one of the most iconic Modern artist, working in every medium from paintings to drawings to prints and sculpture. In the 1940’s a visit to Madoura ceramic works in Vallauris, France, inspired him to create his now well-known ceramic editions.
